Peter Hikhwa – Committee Chairman
Peter is a Deputy Director – Pension Consulting at AON Botswana (Pty) Ltd, Life and Employee Benefits Division.

Peter is a management accountant by profession and his working career started in the late 1980s with Air Botswana until 1996 when he joined the insurance industry. He joined Botswana Insurance Company and was its Finance Manager from 1998 to 2001. He later joined Botswana Insurance Fund Management in 2001 as a Pension Administration Manager. He joined AON Botswana in January 2006 from Glenrand MIB (formerly the employee benefits wing of BIFM).

Peter became a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (UK) in 1991 and qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1999. Peter also holds a certificate in insurance from the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

Neo Pule – Treasurer  
Neo Pule completed her Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Planning) degree in 2010 at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Thereafter, she completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning in December 2015 through the University of Free State. She is currently awaiting to sit the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa’s Board Exam in order to be a Certified Financial Planner.

Neo is an employee benefits Consultant at Alexander Forbes Financial Services and has been in the financial services industry for more than four years. Her roles at present include:
•    Overseeing various pension fund portfolios including special projects (welfare Funds, Funeral schemes, Trust Funds, Loan Scheme)
•    Training and Up-skilling Trainee Consultants

Karabo Ditau Matale – Committee Member & Chairperson of Events Sub Committee
Mr Karabo Ditau Matale is a graduate of the University of Botswana, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2003. He majored in Environmental Science & English.

He started working from August 2003 in the Public Service at the Administration of Justice and Parliament of Botswana until 1st April 2008 when he joined the Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) as a Senior Benefits Administrator. He rose to the position of Principal Benefits Administrator within the Fund and subsequently left in May 2012 to Join Botswana Life Insurance within the Financial Institutions, Employee Benefits 7 Affinity Groups unit where he continued to serve on the Pension/Annuity business as a Service Executive. In October 2015, he joined Debswana Pension Fund as a Member Relations & Investigations Coordinator.

Mr Matale has a notable experience in benefits administration having served in three (3) reputable organisations in the financial services sector. He is an astute and dedicated, knowledgeable professional with a broad understanding of the Pension Fund industry. His value to the Retirement Funds cannot be ignored, especially issues surrounding the administration of pension benefits, dispute resolutions, retirement counselling and consulting and fund member education. Upon him joining Debswana Pension Fund, he was immediately appointed to the Botswana Pension Society as a Committee Member representing the Fund. This is attributable to his commitment to serving in various capacities within the industry.

Mr Matale has a number of post graduate professional qualifications relevant to the financial services industry. He has a certificate of proficiency in Retirement Funds (COP), Certificate of Proficiency in Long Term Insurance, Intermediate Certificate in Business Studies (ICiBS) and Enterprise Risk Management obtained through Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) and Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA). Mr Matale is currently doing a research on the Insurance uptake in Botswana towards his Masters in Finance and Control dissertation which he is studying through Amity University, India.

Karabo Luke – Alternate Committee Member

Karabo Luke is a Risk & Compliance Manager – Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund.

Karabo has a wealth of experience in Banking and Risk and Compliance. Her working career started in the early 90s with Standard Chartered Bank and has worked in various sections within the Bank until 2014 when she joined Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund.  

Karabo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration – Management Degree with the University of Botswana and a Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management. She has also gone through a Management Development Programme with the University of Stellenbosch.


Paul Masie – Alternate Committee Member
Paul Masie is the Managing Director for the Alexander Forbes Group Holdings Botswana and a Director for Alexander Forbes Asset Consultants and Alexander Forbes Financial Services.
Paul has over twenty five years experience in the employee benefits industry, and more than twenty of these years have been with Alexander Forbes. His career in the retirement funds industry started when he was employed by a leading (Life and Pensions Division) after leaving University. He subsequently took up the role of Finance and Administration Manager at Barclays Pension Management Consultants, later as the Consulting Manager with Time Fund Managers, a company subsequently acquired by Alexander Forbes.
Paul studied at the University of Botswana and graduated with a double major Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Accounting. Paul is also an Associate of the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa. Paul is the longest serving member currently employed in the Botswana retirement funds industry and has been instrumental in the reshaping of and in the setting of standards and benchmarks for the Retirement  Funds Industry in the country. He is also one of the founding members of the Botswana Pensions Society.
